Boring headlines

Flintoff injured….

Faction in Pakistan team after Galle loss and Sara collapse, claims Inzy Aloo Haq.

Ricky Ponting questions England tactics….

Buchanan slams Indian greats……

This headlines make no difference to the readers. They are default and keep coming once in a while. I guess they shouldnt even be published in the newspapers or sites. Flintoff is always injured, Pakistan is always riddled with factions and ex-players always slam current players. Aussie coaches reel Indians and Ricky Ponting talks of moral high…..

Are they joking us?

Homegrown heroes such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh and VVS Laxman, were expected to influence, and on some occasions single-handedly win IPL matches,” Buchanan said. “Yet their subdued performances highlight that Test match temperament does not necessarily ensure prolonged success in the T20 game.

“The same could be said about Rahul Dravid. Dravid is a great representative of Indian cricket, a team man, humble, a well-spoken gentleman. But unfortunately he could not score a single run in the early rounds of the IPL, and in my opinion, is not suited to this form of the game. I am certain Dravid’s performances were also affected by the off-field drama created by his franchise owner Vijay Mallya.”

His opinions weren’t restricted to India’s ageing stars. He went on to question Yuvraj Singh’s attitude, though he later clarified that there was no malice involved in his comments.

“Yuvraj Singh in a sense tries to be a modern-day Sourav Ganguly, but I don’t think he has the charisma or the dignity with which Ganguly carries himself,” he said.

Tendulkar has been lauded, and rightly so, as one of the very top batsmen in the history of cricket,” he wrote. “But is he an effective T20 player at this stage of his career?

“In the position he plays – as an opener or No. 3 – the T20 game requires not only the finesse and skills he has, but also the power and domination, an ability to take the bowlers on while being creative. You have to be inventive and fearless. And I don’t see those qualities as part of Sachin’s makeup at this stage of his career. Sachin Tendulkar is still a great player but not in this arena of T20

Ashes begins today

with one comment

Ashes begins today. Supposedly most anticipated contest and the mother of all series. Really ? I dont quite agree. India vs Australia is a bigger contest than this series. Ashes is all about English rants and false dawns. One test match win and England believe they are good to win the Ashes only to see them getting thumped royally.

This time English seem more desparate. They have got John Buchanan in their ranks to help them out with the Aussie secrets.

How much thats going to help England would be known with time.

On the other side of the coin, a tightly fought Ashes is t he need of hour to counter the growing influence of T20.

Australia winning 3-1 or 4-1 would be icing on the cake. And for that matter my Australian predictions hardly go wrong.

KKR sack Buchanan.

End of Buchanan. End of management in cricket. May be next year it would be plain cricketing stuff. Simple tactics. Bat vs ball. Mind vs Mind.

Perhaps relief for Buch too, India or anything Indian is never good for him. He never could win a series against India comprehensively as against other teams. He could never succeed in IPL.

End of agony for KKR. How much that translates to turnaround of its fortunes in IPL-3 if it survives would be interesting to watch.

Buchanan Chale England.

leave a comment »

John Buchanan is heading England. That to me is like a suicide, if England bosses are still keen to have him onboard for Ashes. What he did to England Lions and off late Kolkata Night Riders is pretty much documented and easy to comprehend for everyone.

Australia win Ashes even before a single ball is being bowled. Having Buchanan as advisor or coach is like an insult to the team. He is that kind of bloke who would put a very motivated or charged up player / skipper to sleep or a damp squib with highly unsuccessful management pep talk which holds no relevance in modern day cricket.

Stop your Emotional Atyachar SRK and Buchie Boo

leave a comment »

Have been reading the IPL fake blog which is creating flutters all over. One thing I can conclude for sure from the blog posts is that DADA is a hurt man. He is unhappy with the way he has been handled by the coach and owner of the franchisee. His pride is hurt, his ego has been dented big time. He is the best captain India has ever had and would ever have. He has ridiculed all the set rules, he has single handedly changed the mindset of the young cricketers in the country and gave them self belief that they can be the best if they work hard and not care about backing. He has been the leader of men in a country which had none. He has led his troops in a proud and remarkable way all the years. He has transformed meek abroad Indian teams to winning teams abroad. He has carved playing careers for likes of Dhoni, Veeru, Gautam, Yuvraj, Zaheer and Harbhajan.

Alright we all know this. But the treatment meted out to the great man has been poor and ridiculous. SRK has been vocal and diplomatic in handling this issue. In real sense he is the one who has messed up more on this issue than Buchanan. He anyway never was a coach, but a manager who never performs and always speaks jargons which mean nothing. His wisdom on the cricket field can be judged by a simple fact that he didn’t remove the stray balls off the nets in the run up to the 4th Ashes Test which ultimately his team lost and lost the Ashes in 2005. No need for me to tell who stepped on the stray ball and what happened thereon.

There were talks of dropping Ganguly out of the team. And get whom? Chopra or Bangar? Somebody whose selection in T20 itself is questionable. One of them is a Test batsman who at best could hold one end and make no runs. The other one was a dibly dobly wobbly bubbly. He last played for India in 2004. And since then he has lost even in the Ranji games. Who got them in the team? Certainly not Ganguly. Or some obscure Bengal Ranji player? One of them is the fake blogger as he mentions he was born in Calcutta. Who replaces the man of stature of Ganguly? And based on the cricket wisdom of a nachaniya SRK ? (haha I got sholay mindset). What good does he know on the game besides his routine terms “hot and cold” ,”hugs and kisses” and stuff like that ? IS he going to decide if Ganguly gonna play? If the great man flops, surely dump him of the team, but if you do it for politics or appeasing a dumb founded coach, then you make a ullu of yourself.

Ganguly ka Tashan and KKR on victory road

with one comment

Never write off this man. He would come back in any sort and hit you back on face so much so that you wont even know what hit you. 2/25 in 4 overs and in return of this success bloody Buch demoted Ganguly to 4th spot. Cant imagine Hodge ahead of Ganguly…Ki korbo Buchanan Dada? Bodmash!!

If the game doesnt go ahead then KKR will win the game on D/L. 2nd game in row when KXIP suffer the wrath of rains. 15 mins more and if no game on then KKR spot on. The architect of the victory was indeed John Buchanan….

Insanity reaches crescendo

leave a comment »

If the reports of untried Brendon McCullum replacing DADA as KKR skipper are true then John Buchanan has gone mad and he needs mental rehabilitation soon. May be a brain replacement. Cos he has been just simply a poor brother of Greg Chappell, the Aussie ego rich coach who almost destroyed Indian cricket.
What factor makes Ganguly being replaced by a man who has never led his team in a major game except a washed out game ? And if multiple theory is gona be executed who would be next skipper ? Hodge ? Gayle ? Or Ishant Sharma ? or a non playing captain? Or may be John Buchanan’s son ? There is a thin line of difference between being innovative and insane. I know which side of line Buch falls.
