Idiotic to say the least. You have lost your best batsman in LOI cricket to this inability of the captain to step up and keep when PJ was injured.

When did SL play breathtaking cricket to outplay Pakistan? SL won 2-0 cos Pakistan lost it in those mindless collapses. SL never played positive cricket to win the series. When they could play positive cricket they choked and gave up chance to win 1st test on their win without help from Pakistan batsmen or bowlers!!

Speaking for media for praising the team ignoring the realities is idiotic. And why is he even writing now ? He is no more a captain, he isnt in the greatest of form, so why is he blabbering? If they would have gone for victory and lost then it was acceptable, but closing the shop 32 overs before the game is negative cricket. For negative cricket so much of applauds ? Not done dude.

I guess he was shabbily treated in his final Test. He should now gracefully retire before jumboorie selectors of Lanka dilute his contributions in ODIs too.

Thanks Vaas for your so many first ball dismissals and the delight you got on all the subcontinental fast bowlers. SL team would miss you more than what Sanga or Blabba Queen make us believe.

He would be best remembered for being the first Lankan to take 10-for abroad and getting their first victory abroad in NZ in 1995.

Not sure he would be around to play ODIs and T20 till 2011 as he says.

He was the only world class Test bowler in the SL side along side Murali. But he has laid the foundation where the budding SL bowlers can emulate him.

In a way he was Kapil Dev for Sri Lanka.

His success mostly came against West Indies, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. Against top Test teams he wasnt that successful, but then subcontinent wickets have hardly assisted fast bowlers. His contribution to SL test cricket is no less than Murali, just that later got more wickets. Murali and Vaas were like Twilight vampires who hunted in pairs .
